Welcome to your newsletter for week ending September 4th

Hello families and welcome to the first newsletter of the academic year. We hope you children have enjoyed their (short!) first week. A special welcome to our new Reception families and to those families whose children have joined us in other year groups. We hope the start of your BVP journey has been as smooth as possible.

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week we had the first two of our staff INSET days where staff worked on curriculum updates and school improvement issues, some of which have stemmed from your responses to the Summer Parent/Carer survey. Thankyou very much if you responded to this. We will be adding summaries of responses to the website pages next week. We will also be getting in touch with families who left their details asking for a meeting to discuss issues/ thoughts in more depth.

We have also been busy adding dates to the website calendar here so you have as much information as possible, at the start of the academic year.

On Wednesday, classroom staff will be checking their year group pages to make sure all details are correct and you have a clear over view of what your children will be learning this term. This includes summaries of topics which we call 'knowledge organisers'. These can be downloaded from the website for your reference, however if this is tricky for any reason, let us know and we can send you them directly or print them off for you.

You may have spotted some of our new staff around school- we will aim to introduce you to them, via our Rights Respecting Schools Duty Bearer Posters which we will showcase on the upcoming newsletters.

Welcome Back Meetings

We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at the Welcome back meetings (see above or the website calendar for the dates). There are open meetings where you will have a chance to hear about school improvement updates, reminders around expectations, some year group information and meet class teachers.

There is no need to book for this or let us know if you are coming along. We are also not booking specific times for you to speak to teachers- they will be around for you to chat to and if needed, we can arrange a different time for further discussions.

PE days

BVP Talent Show 2026!

We are pleased to announce the date for the BVP Talent Show for 2026 which will be held at the Cadbury Theatre on Friday 2nd October. We will give you all the details in next week's newsletters but for now, if your children are keen to get up on stage and showcase their talent, then do encourage them to get practising, collaborate with others and get ready to impress their friends and families!

Please park considerately!

Please can we remind parents not to park in the Community Centre/Church car park or on the Church service road unless you are picking your child up from K@Boom Out-of-School Club.

Unfortunately this afternoon, two members of their staff have been verbally abused and one member of staff was threatened by a parent. This is really awful and is a terrible reflection on our school. Whilst the police will handle this incident, we ask you to respect the space around our school and the members of our wider community.

Magical Maths

On Thursday, our Y5 and Y6 children were welcomed back to school with some mathe-magical visitors!

The team from the Maths Magic afterschool club popped in to say hello and shared some great news - there are still spaces available! If your child was interested by today's visit, please see the information on the flyer further down the newsletter (under the "After School Clubs" section) and get in touch with the Maths Magic team, but hurry - places are limited!

Next week we will be on WEEK 2 of the menu.

Bournville Village Primary School - Our Pastoral Team

On  Thursday 24th September at 9.00am-10.30am, we would like to invite you to the first of our Pastoral Coffee mornings.  These will be held half-termly and run throughout the year

Everyone is very welcome and it will be a relaxed opportunity to:

• Meet the team and get to know each other.
• Share any questions, concerns or ideas.
• Meet and connect with other parents for peer support.
• Talk about what would be useful to include in future parent coffee mornings and help shape these meetings around what families would like.

We would also like to remind families that we offer weekly pastoral drop-in sessions every Tuesday after school until 4:30pm. These sessions provide an opportunity to discuss any concerns, seek support, or simply have an informal chat with a member of the pastoral team.

We'd love to see as many of you as possible. Please feel free to drop in, have a coffee and a chat.

Booking Afterschool Club

All after-school clubs will begin next week.

There are still spaces available for some clubs, so if your child(ren) are interested, please click the link below to find out more and enquire. If a club is already full, please email the enquiry address below. Depending on the club, your child may be able to join a waiting list.

Look out for the new playground signs going up next week, that were designed by our pupil leadership groups last term- they include the UNICEF Articles that our children felt were particularly relevant to the outside areas in school.

And finally...

It's been wonderful to see the school full of our children after the summer break. As always, please get in touch if there's anything you need. And a small plea...after just two days in school, we already have un-named jumpers in the lost property boxes! Please check that every bit of uniform has your child's name written in- thankyou!

Picnic in the Park is almost here! Join us on Sunday 6th September, 12–4pm for an afternoon of food, crafts, community activities, family yoga, sports tasters — and, of course, THE DUCK RACE! 🐥

There’ll be something for everyone, including vegan and gluten-free food options, local stalls, free activities and maybe even some blue light action…

Fancy helping out? We’re looking for friendly volunteers to lend a hand before, during and after the event — from putting up posters and helping on the day to photography, litter picking and, importantly, helping our ducks make it safely down the stream! 🦆
