Welcome to your newsletter for week ending July 10th

It's certainly been another very warm week, with the high temperatures continuing throughout much of the school day. Despite the heat, it has been lovely to see the children making the most of the final weeks of term, approaching their learning with enthusiasm and enjoying the many activities taking place across the school. We hope that the 'business as usual' plan is appreciated and that there aren't any concerns. As always let us know your thoughts.

On Monday, we will be sending out our termly parent and carer survey. Your views are incredibly important to us and play a key role in helping us reflect on what is working well and where we can continue to improve. We value all feedback, whether it's celebrating something you feel we do particularly well or highlighting an area where we could do even better. The survey should not take long to complete, and we would be very grateful if as many families as possible could take the opportunity to share their thoughts.

At the end of the day on Monday, children will bring their reports home- a covering letter will explain everything. On Wednesday we have our Open Evening where you can come and look at children's books and talk to class teachers about the assessment data within the report or anything else you want to discuss. You don't need to book an appointment, just come along between 3:30-5pm and make your way to your child/ren's class.

After Wednesday we will be sending children home with any completed books so bringing in an extra bag towards the end of the week would be helpful.

Thank you all so much!

Another week of preparing for the end of term and on Thursday we said thankyou to three members of staff who are also preparing for new adventures away from BVP.

Mrs Wilson has worked as a class teacher in the then Junior School and then BVP for a considerable time. Over her 27 years here she has seen a vast number of children walk through her classroom doors and as a Year 6 teacher for a significant proportion of that time, has also prepared her classes wonderfully for the next stage in their education.

Miss Gillett has been at BVP for a shorter time but as a PPA cover teacher, she has taught in every class, getting to know all our children and moving from one class to the next seamlessly- not an easy task at all!

Mrs May, our SENDCO has been at BVP for just over 3 years and has been very busy working with children and families to ensure they have the correct support in place.

We would like to extend our huge thanks and gratitude to all three members of our BVP family- Samantha, Charlotte and Phillipa, thankyou for all your hard work and efforts during your time here in Bournville; we wish you all the very best of luck in your new adventures!

Attendance Armadillo

This week, the attendance armadillos were handed to...

Recorder Concerts

A huge well done to recorder groups in year 2,3 & 4. You all did an amazing job performing in front of families for the end of year concerts (for many, which was the first time). We are proud of all our budding musicians and look forward to your future performances.

Personal Development Enhancement Curriculum

We are preparing to launch our PD Enhancement Curriculum in September and we have created a page on the website here for you to have a look at what it's all about.

Please have a read and let us know your thoughts either by emailing Mr Hall via mihall@bournvillevillageprimary.org.uk or adding information to the parent survey which comes out next week.

Thankyou!

Year 3 Black Country Museum Trip

On Wednesday, Year 3 visited the Black Country Living Museum. During our visit, we learned about the importance of coal, steam and iron in the growth of Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution. We also enjoyed exploring the many houses and shops, which helped us understand how people lived in the past and how life has changed over time. Everyone had a wonderful day and gained lots of new knowledge about local history.

Lost Hat

One of our pupils has misplaced the hat pictured on the right. If you have seen it or it has been picked up by mistake, please return it to the school office. Thank you for your help!

When the heat was on , the children in Twirls had a cool idea.

Drip , Drip Drop is a wet , outdoor variation of the classic game Duck Duck Goose . Players sit in a circle whilst one child goes round and drips a bit of water on each child saying 'drip'. Next , the child chooses someone and drops the cup of water on them shouting 'DROP.'  That chosen child chases them around the circle. A good time was had by all!

Next week we will be on WEEK 3 of the menu.

You can pre-book meals in advance on Arbor till the end of the academic year (Arbor>> Meals>> Meal Choices Available>> Select Meal Choice)

Reminder: Even if your child is a packed Lunch, parents will need to book that lunch option on Arbor!

Themed Menu (16/07/26)

On Thursday 16th July we have a Seaside Day Themed menu. If your child(ren) would like to have a dinner, please book this via Arbor>> Meals>> Summer 25/26>> Select Day>> School Dinner/ Halal School Dinner

A message from PTA Dave,

To all the kids and teachers... Thank you so much for a wonderful send off on Monday. It's the first time I had seen a whole school assembly and once I had overcome the surprise of it being for me, in walks my mum and dad, family and friends (who were representing the whole parent community) to prove that I was now completely at the mercy of Mrs Cooper and Ruth who had planned it for many months and executed it to perfection!

BF, JF, IH-J you make excellent "Dave's" and you've got the job! Yes, if we had lost the ducks for the duck race I would absolutely send the kids and parents down instead! (That's why we have never lost them!)

I have tried to thank everyone here https://bournvillehsa.wordpress.com/pta-dave-finally-leaving/ and also provide every reassurance possible to all the kids that just because I'm leaving it doesn't mean the discos will stop, for instance.

There will still be fun things happening around school, and you can still trust that there are enough parents that know how important it is to make these things happen and already volunteer and will absolutely carry on doing so.

Under Becki's leadership, and many more PTA chairs to come, I hope you've seen the effort is worth it.

Also on that page, I've also listed out all the activities that we have made happen over the years as it might help your remember your time at the school through a different lens.

Next week, it's all about Year 6 Leavers, so yes, by all means remind me that you thought I had left already, but the kids only leave once and this is their time now.

Dates for your diary next term:

Saturday 11th July - Attic Brew Co. 4pm, PTA Dave's leaving drinks. Staff and Parents (current and previous) all invited.

Thursday 16th July Y6 party 6.30pm - 10pm in the George Hall (with Festival vibes). Year 6 children only, and they must have parent/guardian/nominated adult joining them.

And finally...

The newsletter should be getting to you a little earlier this afternoon as we are preparing for the Year 5 and 6 Summer Concert - we are anticipating a wonderful event and will tell you more about it next week.

Take care all, and see you on Monday for the last week of the year!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
