Welcome to your newsletter for week ending June 26th
It's certainly been a week of extremes with the exceptionally hot weather. Following the Government's guidance regarding high temperatures, attendance has been optional on the hottest days, and we'd like to thank families for their understanding and support. Whether children were in school or learning from home, we have continued to prioritise their wellbeing whilst making the most of the final few weeks of the school year. Those who have been in school have adapted brilliantly, enjoying plenty of opportunities to keep cool while continuing with their learning.
Our final Year 6 class has also enjoyed a fantastic residential this week, completing the full set of trips for this year's cohort. The children have thrown themselves into every challenge, showing resilience, teamwork and encouragement throughout. From climbing and paddle sports to problem-solving activities and camp games, they have represented the school brilliantly and created memories that will stay with them for years to come. We are incredibly proud of the way all of our Year 6 children have conducted themselves across the residentials and would like to thank the staff who have given up their time to make these experiences possible.
As we move into the final few weeks of term, there are still lots of exciting events to look forward to. Please continue to keep an eye on the school website calendar and our weekly newsletters to ensure you don't miss any important dates and information.

We have a little boy in reception who is really missing his scooter (pictured below). We've searched the school grounds without success, so if anyone has seen it or thinks it may have been picked up by mistake, please get in touch with the school.

Marble-ous Maths!
Another week, another Taskmaster Maths Challenge courtesy of our Y6 students! This week, they had to construct a marble run that would last for a minimum of 25 seconds, without touching the marble or causing it to stop. Have a look at their amazing creations!
School Clubs Back On!
ALL afterschool clubs are due to resume as normal from next week. We want to thank all of our families for being understanding of the cancelled clubs this week, we hope you've all enjoyed the sunny evenings.
As part of our INSET work today staff have been reviewing the Values, Behaviour and Relationships Policy through the lens of the Unicef Articles. We have also been thinking more about the whole school approach to embedding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) into some of the curricula taught across the school. By working the key principles inherent in upholding children's rights (equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination, education and participation) into plans, we can help make explicit the ways we promote and protect children's rights.
Once this work is completed we will share the revised policy and the overview of curricula with children and families.
Next week we will be on WEEK 1 of the menu.
You can pre-book meals in advance on Arbor till the end of the academic year (Arbor>> Meals>> Meal Choices Available>> Select Meal Choice)
Reminder: Even if your child is a packed Lunch, parents will need to book that lunch option on Arbor!
Discos
Reception disco went ahead. Kids were great, volunteers were great, music was average (especially when Lava Chicken is only 10 seconds long so had to be played many times before realising Spotify wasn't actually broken!).
We had four older kids help run the drinks and biscuit station; E and D in 5OG, M in 3BW, E in 3P... and they were great! Gaining new skills and preparing the way to doing a fabulous job on the Christmas Fair when they get to Year 6.
The disco for Yr1 is now on Arbor again for the rearranged date of Monday 29th June. You should have got a separate email explaining further.
Year 2/3 disco tickets for Tuesday 30th June come off Arbor at 1300 on Tuesday, so purchase them before they disappear.
Year 4/5/6 Disco tickets available until we sell out.
Sports Day
We will be at Sports Day this year on Friday 3rd July serving tea, coffee, muffins, pastries and cold drinks to the Parent spectators. Bring your refillable mug/cup. Cash and card payments. More details to follow from the School next week.
Party in the Playground and Dave's Celebrations!
Party in the Playground on 10th July will be "PTA Dave's" last one, and the last one of this term, so stick around for tea, coffee, ice creams and cold drinks and enjoy the atmosphere.
Parents and Staff are invited to the Attic on Saturday 11th July from 7pm for leaving drinks for PTA Dave, just to make sure he feels suitably appreciated and to ensure he hands back the door fob.
Year 6 BBQ & Production Recording
After that it's all about Year 6 Leavers and making sure we continue the great send off as their time, and some of the Parents time, at BVPS comes to an end.
The Production on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th, Leavers Assembly on 16th and straight into the Leavers BBQ and then Leavers Party. If you haven't told us you are (or are not) coming along to the BBQ and Party please complete and submit this form to help us plan https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/Dzhujpg1fJ.
The Production recording will be distributed to those that have purchased the item on Arbor when the recording has been mastered.

And finally...
You will have spotted the Transition Day and morning on the 'what's coming up' section; we are excited to be welcoming children in to their new classes with their new staff teams. We know some of you have been in touch with the Pastoral Team in relation to transitions, but if you haven't and want to discuss any particular worries about this, then please get in touch with them via pastoral@bournvillevillageprimary.org.uk
We are looking forward to seeing everyone back after the weekend after what turned out to be a different week in lots of respects! Thankyou again for your support with this.
Take care all and see you on Monday.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
