Welcome to your newsletter for week ending June 5th

A busy first week back after the half term with trips and visits for children across school, and more events coming up over the next few weeks- please keep an eye out on the website calendar!

There's lots to look at below so we will keep this short. The main bit of news we want to draw your attention to is the staffing plan for 26-27. This will be coming out in a separate email just after the newsletter goes live. The email will have details of the transition days too, allowing children plenty of time to get used to new staff and classrooms.

Attendance Armadillo

This week, the attendance armadillos were handed to...

History Bee Champion!

Last weekend our very own N won the International History Bee European Championships 2026 (Elementary Division) in Berlin, becoming the European Champion in his age category.

Children from all across Europe entered this competition, answering questions about world history from ancient times to the modern era. Not only did N compete against participants who were at least three years older than him, but he also became the youngest-ever winner of the European Championships in this division.

This outstanding achievement is a testament to N's hard work, dedication, and passion for learning. We are incredibly proud of you, N—congratulations on this remarkable accomplishment, and keep up the fantastic work!

Quiz Night

First up is tonight's quiz. We hope everyone has a brilliant time! A huge thank you to the quiz master team who have run wonderfully creative quizzes for us over the last 5 years. Half of the quiz master team is leaving us in July, so for it to happen next year, we'll need some new people who love creating quizzes to step forward!

Dave's Leaving Celebrations

Talking of leaving, can you believe it?! PTA Dave is actually leaving us after 16 years! We are heading to Attic Brew Co. in Stirchley on Saturday 11th July from 7pm for a couple of drinks to say thank you to him and his family for helping "make fun things happen around school" for over a decade and a half! It would be lovely if you could join us.

Alternatively, we are having Dave’s last "Party in the Playground" on Friday 10th July straight after school. Come have a chat, a cup of tea, or an ice cream!

A lot of you have asked for a way to pass on your thanks, here's a link where you can leave a message or contribute to a gift: https://app.giftround.com/giftround/jk65UN-pta-daves-farewell/

Volunteer needed

As with previous years, we will be recording the Year 6 production.

We have a parent that has all the kit to record the production, but not the software to edit and master the recording. If there is a member of the BVPS family that can help in this area (your child doesn’t need to be in Year 6) then we would love to hear from you! We will pass on the recordings (audio and visual) for you to work on, with final approval from Mrs Cooper. Fingers crossed we have someone in the community that can help.

Send an email to: pta@bournvillevillageprimary.org.uk or text Becki on 07964166963 if you are keen and able to get involved.

And finally...

With thoughts around new classes and teachers in September, please remember to get in touch with the Pastoral Team via pastoral@bournvillevillageprimary.org.uk if you would like to chat about additional transition support for your child. There are lots of things they/ we can do to ensure the build up and move up is as smooth as possible.

Any queries around staffing, please do not hesitate to discuss with your class teachers or any member of SLT.

Take care all- hope you manage to see a bit of June sunshine and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
