Autumn Term

English
Our first text will be The Lost Happy Endings, a modern fairy tale, written by Carol Ann Duffy. The expected writing outcomes are writing in role, a short conversation, retelling a short story and an information text about fairy tales.
We will also be reading a class novel and poems which will be selected by the class teacher in addition to our texts used in English lessons.
Maths
We will cover the following areas:
- Place value (up to 4 digits)
- Formal and mental methods for addition and subtraction, multiplication and division
- Measurement - length and perimeter
Things to practise at home:
- Times tables and associated division facts using TT Rock Stars. Children are expected to be fluent in all multiplication and division facts by the end of year 4.
- Counting forwards and backwards from 0 to 100 and 100 to 0.
- Counting forwards and backwards in multiples of 2, 4, 5, 8 and 10.
