Welcome to your newsletter for week ending February 6th
We've finished the week with a fabulous number day and lots of mathematical activities going on in classes across the school- read on for more information! We've got lots coming up in the last week of the half term including the Stay and Learn sessions and an author visit for Year 3 and 4.
In school we are already thinking ahead to the Easter holidays when we will (hopefully) be installing a new climbing frame and having some new playground markings. We are able to do this because of the amazing PTA fundraising efforts last year. We are looking at possible designs for both the climbing frame and the playground markings and will be involving our School Councillors in the final decisions next half term.
We are also looking ahead to a series of planned trips to local places of worship, to strengthen our RE and Personal Development Curriculums- look out for more details in next week's newsletter.
Happy Retirement Mrs W!
Many of you will know Mrs Williams (or Mrs W!) who has worked at BVP as a Teaching Assistant for an incredible 19 years. Mrs Williams has made the difficult decision to retire and will be officially 'putting her feet up' at the end of this half term. We are sure you would like to join us in thanking Mrs Williams for all her years of hard work and dedication to our school family, and wishing her all the best for her next adventures. Happy Retirement Julie!

Y2 Parents Maths Workshop - Monday 23rd February
We would like to invite Y2 parents (and children!) to attend a maths workshop from 3.30 to 4.30 on Monday 23rd February. What a great way to start the new half term! We will be looking at mathematical language, representations and equipment used in school, which can help you when talking to your child about maths at home or helping them with homework.
Bourn View Care Home Visit
This week, we were excited to welcome the first two residents of Bourn View Care Home to visit BVP following on from our visit to see them last week! Some of our wonderful children from Y2-Y6 greeted Beryl and Thelma and treated them to a morning of games, tea and biscuits. It was a particularly special morning for Thelma, who used to be a pupil at the school, starting her journey here back in 1932! We are looking forward to our next visit to Bourn View at the end of the month, and will be welcoming more residents to BVP at the start of March.

Year 4 Viking Day
Year 4 took part in a Viking Day, where we created our own Runes and took part in building a Viking Longship through the Architecture Workshop. Take a look at our photos to see what we got up to.

Digital Ambassadors
Our Digital Ambassadors have been working very hard in preparation for Internet Safety Day on Tuesday 10th February. They will present more information to the children in assembly on Monday.

Young Voices Update
We hope you are looking forward to the rescheduled concert on February 27th.
In order to manage the change of date for purchased tickets, the YV team need to go through a process with the Box Office at BP Pulse Live.

- Collect information from schools on whether parents will be able to attend rescheduled dates.
Once they have this information, the tickets will be re-issued to yourselves.

Just a friendly reminder that if you have not yet paid for your child's Spring Term music lessons, this needs to be done as soon as possible. You can find the payment in Arbor under "School Shop". If you are unable to pay or cant access Arbor, please contact the school office.

Some of you said that it was a shame that children's progress and attainment data was not visible on Arbor for a longer period of time, particularly over the course of the Parents' Evenings.
For the next set of data (to be shared at the end of the term), we will keep this available for you to view over the Easter holidays and then up to and including April 15th when we have the next opportunity for you to come and discuss how your children are getting on. This is not something you need to book- simply come in at the end of the school day (3:20- 4:30pm) and you can look at books and chat to your class teachers.
Next week we will be on WEEK 3.
You can pre-book meals in advance on Arbor till the end of the academic year (Arbor>> Meals>> Meal Choices Available>> Select Meal Choice)
Reminder: Even if your child is a packed Lunch, parents will need to book that lunch option on Arbor!
And finally...
With more rain forecast next week, please ensure children are coming to school with waterproof coats (with hoods) and don't forget to check names are on them (and every other bit of uniform!).
We hope you get to see a little bit of sunshine over the weekend- take care all and see you on Monday for the last week of the half term.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
