Welcome to your newsletter for week ending September 12th

Our first full week back! We started the day with fabulous Values Assemblies and we ended with a slightly damp but lively pop-up school shop on the playground! It was also the fist full day for the newest members of the BVP family- our wonderful Reception children! They have done brilliantly so far and we are very proud of their super start.

Thankyou for all your support at the start of the term. We know the return after the summer break can sometimes be tricky for our children but with lots of communication between home and school, worries and concerned can be addressed quickly. Don't forget that teachers' and team email addresses are on the website under 'Learning' and 'Year group Pages' so you can get in touch with them directly.

Thank you again for the responses to the parent survey- a summary of the free text comments at the end of the survey are on the website under the 'Families' page here.

We have a busy weekend ahead of us at BVP; tomorrow the George Hall will be open from 10-4 as part of the Bournville Village Heritage Day, and then on Sunday we have our first PTA for our new Reception families- the Picnic and Duck Race in the Park! We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at one or both of the events.

Read on for more news and information about what's coming up and don't forget to keep an eye on the calendar which is filling up with dates for the year. it's under the Families tab on the website or you can click here.

We Are Gold! 🏅

We are delighted to share that our school has been awarded the Gold School Games Mark - a fantastic achievement that reflects the hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment of our pupils, staff, and wider community in promoting sport and physical activity.

The School Games Mark is a nationally recognised award that celebrates schools for their dedication to PE, after-school clubs, competitions, and opportunities for all children to get active. Achieving the Gold Award shows that we not only provide a wide range of sporting opportunities, but also encourage participation, teamwork, and a love of being active.

This success is down to the brilliant efforts of our children, who throw themselves into PE lessons, clubs, and competitions with such energy and positivity. It also reflects the dedication of our staff and coaches, who go above and beyond to inspire and motivate pupils. Finally, we want to thank our families for their ongoing support - from cheering on at events to encouraging active lifestyles at home.

We are incredibly proud of this recognition and look forward to building on it by continuing to grow our sporting offer and celebrating the achievements of every child.

A Great Year Begins with Great Attendance!

It’s been so lovely seeing all the smiling faces back in the classroom, ready for another year of learning, growth and fun.

As we settle into our routines, we’d like to remind everyone of the value of regular and punctual attendance and encourage our children to strive for it. Every school day counts, and being in class—on time—helps your child feel that they belong and can achieve their full potential.

We completely understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable—especially when your child is unwell. But when children miss school often or arrive late, it can really impact both their learning and their ability to feel connected and settled.

The doors open at 8.40am and the register is taken at 8.50am – if your child arrives after this time, they will be marked as late and could miss vital information at the start of the school day. Please ensure sure you child arrives on time so they are settled and ready to learn

If your child is absent, please notify attendance as early as possible by calling 0121 675 9098 (option 1).

If you are unsure whether your child it too ill for school, please click the link for helpful information https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/

Let’s work together to help every child make the most of this year. Thank you for your continued support and for getting your child to school every day—ready to learn and grow!

Parking

Just a reminder for our families to be more mindful at drop off and pick up when it comes to parking. We've received some calls from residents and local businesses about parking around these times as they are often blocked in/ out of their own drives and spaces.

We understand there is limited parking around the school but if our families could be more aware of this, that would be wonderful.
