Welcome to your newsletter for week ending July 18th
As we draw a close on the last day of the school year, the overriding emotion we have in school is that of thanks. We want to make sure we show our appreciation for all involved in BVP so please excuse us if this part of the newsletter is a little longer than usual!
We know lots of families take the time to extend their gratitude to staff they’ve got to know over the school year. Whether it’s a kind word at the school gate, a thoughtful note in a card or a gift, we really do appreciate it all. From the whole school team, thankyou for your kindness and generosity.
We don’t often mention staff in newsletters, but today we’d like to extend a special thankyou to all those people that work outside of classrooms and who are often very much behind the scenes. You keep things ticking along beautifully and we really would be lost without you getting the buildings and site ready each day, all the admin sorted and the money all in check! We’d also like to say thankyou to our Governors who are often here late at night, ensuring what we do in school is right for our children and families. Thankyou team BVP.
We have some members of the team who signed out at the end of the day, for the final time. Miss Flynn and Miss Flood, both in Reception, are moving on to pastures new next term and we wish them the very best of luck with their new adventures. Thankyou Zara and Ellie for all you’ve given the children and the team.
Miss Swift in Year 1 and Miss Brown in Year 3 are also saying goodbye to BVP today. Abbie and Lateesha- we hope that you both have a wonderful time with the next chapter in your teaching careers- we know you will be brilliant in your next schools. Keep in touch and let us know how you’re doing.
We are also saying a very fond farewell to Miss Setchell, Mrs Ryan and Mrs Darwood who between them have an incredible 70 years at our school! BVP was obviously two separate schools when they first joined; in Miss Setchell’s 5 years, Mrs Ryan’s 25 years and Mrs Darwood’s incredible 40 years here, they have seen an astounding number of children walk through the doors, many staff come and go and the journey of the then two schools take different paths over the years. Helen, Josie and Diane, we are eternally grateful for all you have given our BVP family – you have all made an incredibly positive difference. We wish you alla relaxing and enjoyable retirement!
Another aspect of school life is our incredible PTA volunteers. Without them we would be missing many of the events across the year that we know our children really look forward to- the discos, Christmas Fair and the incredible Year 6 Leaving celebrations are just some of the wonderful parts of the school calendar that they organise brilliantly. Whether you are a solid fixture or have been able to help at just one event, it has all been very much appreciated. Huge thanks.
Thankyou families- you have been a fantastic support this year. All your feedback is taken on board, whether it be a friendly nudge to remember something, responses and comments in the Parent Carer Survey or a request for a more in-depth discussion, it all helps us to get us to the best possible place for our children. Thankyou to families who are moving on, who’ve taken the time to give feedback and we extend a warm welcome to families who are joining us in September. Thankyou- please keep the feedback flowing!
And to the most important part of our school family - the children. We are immensely proud of each and every one of them- they are the beating heart of BVP and the reason we are all here. Well done children - whether you are moving on to a new school in September or back at Bournville Village in the Autumn term, we hope you have a really great summer break.

Star In The Making!
On Saturday 5 July, P competed in the final of the International Dance Teachers Association Musical Theatre Awards (MTAs).
Earlier in the year P scored over 90% in her Musical Theatre exams qualified to the semi finals where she presented a piece from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, acting, singing and dancing- qualifying to the finals!!
In the finals, she competed on stage against just 14 other selected children and young people (out of hundreds, nationally), of ages up to 21 years old (most were teenagers). P didn't win on the day, but she performed flawlessly!
P, your BVP family are incredibly proud of you for upholding our school values, performing in front of a large crowd and achieving something incredible at such a young age! A massive well done to you :)
Congratulations to Our Year 6 Boys – 5KM Fundraiser Success!
A huge well done to our amazing Year 6 boys who took on the challenge of running 5 kilometres to raise money for a brand new climbing frame for our playground. Their determination, teamwork, and positive spirit were truly inspiring – we are incredibly proud of their efforts!
If you would like to support their fantastic fundraising initiative, donations can still be made via Arbor. Every contribution, big or small, will help us reach our goal and give all children the opportunity to enjoy a new and exciting outdoor space.
Thank you for your continued support!

Bake Sale Success!
A huge well done to M, A and M of 6S for baking 5 cakes and successfully selling every single slice! Their hard work and determination raised over £84 which the girls donated to Cancer Research.
They couldn’t have achieved this without the support from Dave of the PTA, who helped set up their table and provided a card machine - thank you Dave!
Girls, BVP are incredibly proud of your selflessness and eagerness to help others! Keep being your amazing selves :)
Congratulations to this week's Attendance Armadillo winners!
Music Lessons Sept 25
Congratulations to everyone that secured a music space for September! All confirmations have now been sent out. If you have not received an email, but applied for a space, your child will have been added to the waiting list.
A payment item will be added to your child's Arbor account over the six weeks holidays. Please ensure you pay this before your child returns to school.
Timetables are being put together as we speak, so your child will be informed of the day/time of their lesson during the first week back. Music lessons do not start until September 8th.
If your child is continuing lessons, please tell them to keep their instrument over summer and keep practicing.
Have a lovely summer!
Our Amazing Musicians
We wanted to say how proud we are of our budding musicians for their amazing show at this year's Youth Proms. You all did amazingly and wowed everyone with your performance.
WELL DONE!
A massive well done to all our musicians for their hard work and dedication this year. It has been lovely to see you progress throughout the year and we are excited to see you continue to flourish come September.
As we reach the end of another academic year, we take a moment to reflect on the emotional, social, and personal growth of our students. This year has brought both challenges and triumphs, and we are incredibly proud of the resilience, kindness, and empathy our students have shown.
Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued partnership and trust. We look forward to building on this year’s progress and welcoming students back refreshed and ready for the year ahead.
Although there is much excitement around the summer break, we know that this can also be a stressful time for some. We wanted to share some helpful suggestions and ideas – see links below for further details.
Please do reach out if you do require support over the break at [email protected]
Wishing you all a restful and joyful summer
Love The Pastoral Team
After the summer holidays we will be on WEEK 1 of the new menu. You can view our full new menu for Autumn term here.
Don't forget to pre-book your child's meal option on Arbor! (even if your child is having a Packed Lunch) Top Tip: When selecting your meal choice, tick "Pick for all future available dates" to confirm your selection until the end of term!

Year 6 Leavers Events
Well. That worked. We think!
Year 6 Leavers have left and we think we gave them a good send off yesterday.
Thanks to all that have sent messages of thanks through the 2025 Leavers WhatsApp group - they will be shared with the alumni that came back to help and make the event happen. Watch this space for BVPS Alumni network emerging for the kids (and Parents). Remember. Those images are NOT for social media!
For those that made the optional donation to the price of the Leavers Hoodies... thank you! Your donations paid for the decorations at the party last night.
Production recording will be made available through the email address associated with your Arbor account if you have purchased the Production Recording in the Arbor School Shop. It's available until Tuesday 22nd July, after which it'll be taken down. Also NOT for social media.
If you are leaving BVPS (along with your Year 6) then take care! Hope we've made fun things happen around school for you as well as your child. If you are sticking around, see you in September!
Much love,
David, Becki, Veronica and the rest of the PTA Team and Alumni
And finally...
We know that the next six weeks won't necessarily be a 'break' for you all, but we hope that whatever your circumstances, you all get a bit of extra time with your children, families and friends. Whether you are home or away, keep yourselves and each other safe. I (Mrs C) will be around for most of the break so please get in touch via [email protected] if you need anything at all - just bear with me if I don't get back to you straightaway.
So for the final time for a while, take care all and we will see the majority of you back on Wednesday 3rd September. We're looking forward to seeing you already.
Love from all of your BVP team.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
