Welcome to your newsletter for week ending June 20th
It has been a pretty hot end to the week but despite the high temperatures, we ended with a wonderful Ukulele Concert from our amazing Year 2 musicians. Thankyou to the families who came along to support this annual event. The children really were fabulous!
Our values assemblies this morning were another opportunity to celebrate those children who have shown collaboration in abundance- see if your KS1 or 2 children can name some of our top tips for effective collaboration!
We have had more classes out on trips this week, and two of our Year 6 classes have been on their end of year Residential. We’ve also had sports events (football and cricket) and more to follow next week!

All Things Yellow!
By going yellow with clothes today, we increased awareness of spina bifida and hydrocephalus and helped to raise vital funds so that Shine can continue to provide specialist advice and support services to those affected by the conditions. The donation option is still available on Arbor, and if you'd like to read more about the condition, please see the link here.

Headlice
We've had cases of headlice in Year 2 and would like to remind our families of the many ways to prevent the likelihood of any future cases please can we make sure...
- Children are not sharing hair accessories such as headbands, hats, clips etc.
- Regular checking for nits using a nit comb
- Treatment issued as soon as lice are detected
Toy donations
Our never-ending plea for toy donations continue! Our lunchtime staff are in desperate need of any dolls, blocks, cars and other small toys you may like to "get rid" of.
BVP Afterschool Clubs Sept 2025

Year 6 Joint lessons
6S and 3S
The Year 6s have been helping the Year 3 children with their maths learning. The children prepared mini-lessons and games to support the Year 3 children with their understanding of time. The Year 6s identified what the children might find difficult and how best to help them. The session was a great success: the Year 6 were wonderful teachers, and the Year 3 children had a better understanding of time. This was a wonderful example of collaboration, our value this month.
6M and 2T
6M and 2T had a collaborative maths lesson this morning. 6M spent some time making games based on the year 2 curriculum then supported 2T to play the games and practise some of their maths skills. All the children showed excellent collaboration skills, helping and supporting each other and celebrating their successes.
After School "Drop-In" Sessions for families
As we prepare for September, we would like to ask out families what their preferred day is for Pastoral Drop- in Sessions, currently running on a Tuesday 3.30pm-4.30pm. Please click here to complete the form to choose your preferred day.
Year 6 Transition Lunchtime ‘Drop-in’ sessions will continue every Wednesday 12.00pm-13.00pm. Year 6 children will have the opportunity to chat through any worries with a member of the pastoral team. We will also have more structured activities available each week based on supporting Transition if the children wish to do them. This week children reflected on their achievements throughout primary school, overcoming challenges and strategies for navigating new situations.
Mental Heath
We know from conversations with our families that many of you are concerned about your child experiencing low mood or feelings of sadness. More than one in 10 primary school children aged five to 10 has an identifiable mental health condition – that’s around three children in every class.
While rates of mental ill health do increase as children get older, early intervention is key to giving young people the best start in life.
We have a vital role to play in supporting children’s mental health – teaching them the skills they need to recognise and deal with their emotions, and helping in times of difficulty to get the support they need.
Below are links to websites that can offer advice and support to help a child experiencing low mood.
If you feel you need additional support please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact the team [email protected], or contact your GP.
Pastoral Coffee Afternoon
The last Pastoral coffee afternoon of the year will be held on the 2nd July from 2.15pm-3.15pm. If you are able to attend please can you sign up here.
Please contact the team should you require any advice or support [email protected].
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
Next week we will be on Week 1.
Don't forget to pre-book your child's meal option on Arbor! (even if your child is having a Packed Lunch)
Top Tip: When selecting your meal choice, tick "Pick for all future available dates" to confirm your selection until the end of term!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
