Welcome to your newsletter for week ending May 2nd

It's been a super start to the Summer term; very warm and pretty busy! We finished the week with the first Values assembly, celebrating just some of the children who have gone over-and-above to show how they have taken on and achieved challenges this week.

For KS2 parents, see if your children can remember the 'top tips' for taking on a challenge, using the letters below!

                                                      B.I.I.S.P     P     A.C.I.A.C.T.T.P   S.R.G   G.O.O.Y.C.Z   O.S.A.A.T

This week we have started designing our Bull for the 'Bulls in the City' campaign and are looking forward to showing you progress towards the finished sculpture- read on for more details.

Our Rights Respecting Ambassadors have also met this week to start planning the 3rd and final 'Celebrating our Cultures' day for the year, on July 11th. At the moment we are thinking about quizzes and some kind of trail or 'hunt' for facts about different cultures around the world.

Thankyou to all the families who have completed the Spring Parent/ Carer survey. We are almost at our usual target of 200 responses- we just need 25 more! Please, if you have a few spare minutes complete the survey using the link below. We really do value all feedback and if we have around 200 responses then we can compare results with previous surveys more effectively and reliably.

The warm weather has meant lots of children are taking off jumpers, cardigans and hats and our 'lost property' boxes in KS2 are now overflowing with unnamed items. We know uniform is expensive and families really don't want or need the inconvenience and expense of having to replace lost items- so please check that there is a name in everything your child might take off at school!

BVP's Bull

We are thrilled to participate in this year's city-wide Art Trail - Bulls in the City!

What's it all about?

The city’s next big art trail will depict the legendary Birmingham Bullring Bull, with 40 large bull sculptures and around 85 calves descending in July.

Imagine wandering through the bustling streets of Birmingham, uncovering one stunning bull after another, each bearing the creative imprint of a local artist and proudly sponsored by a local business.

Working with Wild in Art, this colourful and exciting art trail will engage local communities and bring thousands of visitors into the city. All while raising awareness of Birmingham Hospice and the importance of the care it provides the people of Birmingham and their loved ones.

What are we doing at BVP?

At school, our design team have been finalising a plan that allows all children across school to take part-if they wish. Watch this space for more news!

To find out more about the trail you can visit: https://bullsinthecity.co.uk/

Football Champions

BVP are so incredibly proud of you boys

Marathon Update

You may remember one of our newsletters last term mentioned fellow BVP parent Briony competing in the Newport Marathon Festival to raise money for Child Brain Injury Trust. Briony managed to raise an incredible £1400 for her chosen charity and also completed the marathon in an impressive 3 hours 56 minutes.

If you would like to donate, its not too late! Click the link or picture below to take you to the website.

If you have any toys laying around at home that are in good condition but are not played with anymore, we would be more than welcome to take them off your hands! We're looking for building blocks, cars, dolls etc.

Next Week we will be on Week 1.

Don't forget to pre-book your child's meal option on Arbor! (even if your child is having a Packed Lunch

And finally...

This week we got to see the list of children who will be joining us in September- this year is flying by! All classes are full which is great news for us and soon we will be starting the steady transition for them to get to know us as their new 'BVP family'.

We have also been working on staffing plans for next year and straight after half term we will be able to share our plans and get transition underway for 25-26. Any early worries or thoughts about this, please do not hesitate to get in touch via [email protected]

Have a good weekend all and if you are lucky enough, enjoy the Bank Holiday too and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
