Welcome to your newsletter for week ending December 20th
As we come to the end of the term, we find ourselves marking the end of an era for three of our members of staff. Yesterday we said goodbye to Mrs Fleming who has been one of our teaching assistants for over 30 years. Mrs Fleming worked in both Key Stage 1 and 2 over the many years at Bournville Junior School and then Bournville Village Primary. Rosie will be be greatly missed and we wish her a happy and peaceful retirement.
We are also saying farewell to Mr Evans after a decade of service to our children and families. We wish Gary all the best in his next endeavours and look forward to hearing about his new journey.
Our wonderful Mrs Carter spent her final day at BVP today. After almost 20 years surrounded by her school family, we know that life will be very different from now on. Retirement will be a new adventure for Mrs Carter, but we are confident she will navigate it beautifully. Amanda, you have provided us with strength, guidance, expertise, security and above all dedication and care for the children, families and staff of our Bournville Village Primary family. Thankyou.
We know you will want to join us in wishing all three members of the team our love and very best wishes for 2025 and beyond.

We started our last day of the term with an amazing whole school assembly in The George Hall. This was the first time all children and staff from across the school united for a good sing a-long to mark Mrs Carter's final day at BVP. There have been class and year groups parties this afternoon with refreshments provided by the PTA. The day ended with the sound of The Carillon playing our children out of the gates, and despite the rainy weather, it lifted the spirits of our school family and those passing by.

Jobs January is around the corner! We are looking for parents/ carers and family relatives that would like to come into school and talk to groups of children about their jobs. We would love to hear from a whole range of families who could motivate, inspire, inform and describe what it is like to work in their particular field.
If you think you could spare us half an hour (or ideally a little bit more!), please email Mrs Cooper via [email protected] to discuss what you can offer us in the new year.
We will be on Week One when we come back after half term.
Don't forget to pre-book your child's meal option on Arbor! (Packed Lunch included!)

Message from the NHS
2024 has seen BSOL CDOP see an increase in unsafe sleep related deaths of babies. Unsafe sleep environments have included babies being to put to sleep on sofa’s, on double beds, co-sleeping with parents and siblings and parents/carers falling asleep in the bed whilst feeding their baby.
The safest place for a baby to sleep is in the feet to foot position in a clear cot/moses basket, in their parents’ bedroom, on a flat, firm mattress.

And saying goodbye to 2 very supportive members of the team...
Amanda Carter and Gary Evans were there, from the outset, in the British Oak at PTA meetings, always providing a safe and supportive environment for the PTA to operate in, and contributing to inventing and re-inventing all the fun things that happen around school over the years. We are very, very grateful to them, and their consistent presence, in one form or another, front of house or behind the scenes supporting the team and always oiling the wheels and providing moral support where needed over the many years. Thank you. The legacy continues to grow.
Onwards!
David, Becki, Veronica and the rest of the PTA Team

And finally...
Whether you are celebrating Christmas or not, we hope that you have a safe and peaceful break. Although we are closed to children, please do get in touch (via [email protected]) if there is anything we can help with, school or otherwise.
With love from your BVP family.
