Welcome to your newsletter for week ending November 22nd
We’ve had an interesting week in school with some challenging weather but we seem to have got through it without too many problems. Thank you for getting children in, despite the roads and footpaths being tricky.
We hope the delayed registration helped some of you out- we are ‘back to normal’ now so please remember that children should be in their classrooms by 8:50am. Thankyou.
We were joined by Mr Reece King in today’s KS2 Values Assembly. Mr King will be our Deputy Headteacher in January, following Mrs Carter’s retirement. Mr King has been in school quite a bit this term and children are starting to get to know him. We are working hard to ensure the transition between these members of staff is as smooth as possible. Mrs Carter works closely with many families across school- if you are one of these families and have any worries about Mr King picking this support up in January, please let us know.
We’ve got some busy weeks ahead so have filled the ‘dates’ section with pretty much all you need to know for the remainder of the term.
Read on to find out more about the week in school.

Although we sadly didn’t win any of the overall prizes this time, we’re very proud of everyone who took part and put in such a fantastic effort. Some headline figures:
BVP finished 397/4,500 schools nationally (top 10%)
BVP finished 53/560 schools in the West Midlands (top 10%)
Our highest scoring class, 6OG, finished 525/30,000 classes nationally (top 2%)
6OG were also 82/3,700 classes in the West Midlands (top 2%)
Some individual BVP awards:
Top 3 classes: 6OG (1st), 5LS (2nd), 4EW (3rd)
Top 3 Most Valuable Players: Reggie 5LS (1st), George 4EW (2nd), James 6OG (3rd)
Well done everyone – keep practicing, and next time let’s aim even higher up the leader board!

Celebrating Our Cultures Day- Friday 29th November
We are so pleased to be holding our first 'Celebrating our Cultures' day. This was the idea of our Rights Respecting School Ambassadors last year- we have planned one per term and on Friday, we will be holding our first one.
For the day, we are inviting children (and staff!) to come to school in national costume/ dress/ or something that represents their own heritage. If children do not want to do this, they can come to school in own clothes of their choice, or their school uniform.
During the day, children will be researching a 'significant historical moment' related to a country that the class have chosen. They will also be researching the national flag for that country.
In the afternoon we will be holding assemblies where classes will share an overview of what they've found out about the significant historical moment and the flag for the country they've based their research on. (Sorry, but these assemblies are not for parents.)
At 3:20pm, we will be opening up both halls and inviting families in to bring and share some food that is represents their culture/ heritage/ family for all to enjoy and learn about. We would love to see the halls full of a range of cultural delicacies so as a school family, we can learn all about each others' favourite cultural dishes. We will set out tables for parents/ families to present their food and talk to others about it. If you are able to contribute to this, please email [email protected] with the subject header 'celebrating cultures food' and a very brief description of what you might bring. Please can we remind you that we are a nut free school- thankyou.
In the halls, we will also have 2 world maps and we will be inviting families to stick a pin on the map that indicates their/ their families nationalities - we are hoping this gives us a lovely representation of our international school family.
