Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter- September 15th

We've had a busy week and it's been lovely to end with some sunshine.

Today we had our first Values Celebration Assemblies of the year - read below for the names of our super stars who have been showing our value of the month...RESPECT... in all that they do.

Our Reception children are now 'full time'- they have made a super start and we are looking forward to welcoming them on Sunday, when the PTA run their annual 'duck race', for our newest BVP family members (see below for more details).

Last week we ran 2 of our Parent/Carer Welcome Meetings where we shared our priorities and talked a little about our Values, Behaviour and Relationship Policy. Parents also enjoyed a tour of the whole school. Next week we have sessions for Years 4,3 and 2. (Just to note, the presentations are very similar for each year group so if you have more than one child at BVP, you certainly don't need to come along to all.

We now have most of the key events on our website calendar- this sits within the 'Parents' tab on the website and can be accessed by clicking here.

We are continuing to update pages on our website and are keen to include information that is really helpful for our families. If you have any thoughts about this, please get in touch via [email protected] or [email protected]

It is always lovely to spend time chatting to parents at the end of the school day and having strong relationships with our families is extremely important to us. We would like to let you know that on Wednesdays, all classroom staff attend a staff meeting and these start at 3:30pm, so please don't be offended if teachers and TAs are keen to get back into school on these days- thankyou for your understanding!

Music News

Just a few reminders this week…

We are so pleased with how the children have settled into their music lessons this week and are really looking forward to hearing their progress this term. A reminder that clarinet and flute lessons will start on Monday with Mrs Taylor.

If you have any questions about your child’s progress in their music lessons, please do email their teacher.

Our Friday celebration assembly this week also featured some wonderful oboe playing by Owen in 5HPS. Owen has been learning the oboe since Year 3 and has already reached grade 5 standard, and passing an audition to play in one of the music service central ensembles. Because of his tremendous progress, Owen was awarded a Pupil of Potential Award by the music service this year. Congratulations Owen, you are truly a super star!

Before and After School Clubs

As you know we have been working hard to secure quality before and after school provision for our children. Many clubs are fully booked, but some of our providers have availability in Dance and Gymnastics Years 1 to 6, Lingotots KS1, Drama KS2.

Please look out for the emails or contact Mr Evans for more information.

More information on after school sports clubs will follow soon.

SeeSaw

Following the huge response to our Parent Survey last term about homework, we are in the process of changing the way we set work and what we expect. We know some children are wanting to continue to share work/ news from home via the Seesaw App- we are just waiting for this to be updated with new classes etc and then it will be back up and running.

Keep your eyes peeled for more information about homework!

We Won't Let The Rain Spoil Our Fun!

Due to the wet weather forecasted this Sunday we are going to open up George Hall (and classrooms off the hall if needed) for space for you to have your picnic lunch in the dry from 11:00 onwards.

We will put on some music, games and serve tea and coffee etc and have the School Shop stock available for you to rummage through. Then we will tidy up and all walk into the Park together at 13:00 (NOT 14:00 as previously advertised) and release the ducks into a stream that should be relatively fast flowing making it a good race!

Please do still bring wet weather gear as whatever the weather - we are releasing the ducks at 13:00 ... it'll be fun! Duck Race entry is on ParentPay if you want to get ahead, or can't make it but still want to enter. Entry also available on the day via cash or card payments. Entrance to the George Hall via the main school entrance off Woodbrooke Road.

We are excited to let you know that on Friday 29th September we are holding a Macmillan Coffee Afternoon (after school!). More details to come next week but just to give you the heads up, we will be looking for creative bakers to offer up some donations!

Arbor Help Session

Just as a reminder, we are hosting a drop-in session on Wednesday 20th September 15:30-16:00, to help resolve any problems you are having with our new Arbor app.

Please bring the device you would like to use the app on; phone, tablet, laptop.

All parents and guardians are welcome, so please feel free to come by!
