Welcome to your newsletter for week ending July 11th

Hello families, another busy week (and Friday!) in school with the Year 1 trip yesterday, the Recorder Group performance and then in less than an hour, the annual Year 5 and 6 Summer Music Concert which is a fantastic showcase of talent from our older musicians. Today we held our final Values Champion Assembly for the year with children from across the school being celebrated for their efforts with Collaboration. And today, we held our last 'Celebrating our Cultures' day- unfortunately there weren't too many families with food and drink to share at the end of the day (we think the heat had put some of you off), but thankyou very much to the families who did make the effort- it was much appreciated. During the day, all children took part in a flag hunt and a Geography quiz, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

With all the musical administration needed to keep all the lessons and events running smoothly, we are in need of a Music Administrator- please read the information further down the newsletter if you think this could be something of interest to you or someone you know.

Read on for more information about what we've been up to!

BVP School Council Helps Shape the Future of Lunchtime!

Today (Friday), our brilliant BVP School Council members rolled up their sleeves—and loosened their belts—for a special Menu Sampling Day in partnership with our fantastic school caterers, Coombs Catering Partnership.

With September 2025 just around the corner, our pupil representatives took on the important task of tasting and reviewing potential new dishes for the upcoming school menu. From hearty mains to healthy sides (and even a few sweet treats!), they provided thoughtful, constructive feedback to Coombs’ area managers, menu designers, and kitchen team.

Our councillors were polite, engaged, and full of ideas, impressing everyone with their maturity and enthusiasm. It was a fun and productive morning for all involved—though we’re still not sure whether the highlight was the delicious gooey choco crispy squares or all of them bravely sampling the new chilli and peri peri chicken in the scorching weather. Let’s just say, the sun wasn’t the only thing bringing the heat!

A huge thank you to Coombs Catering Partnership for involving our School Council in this exciting process. We can’t wait to see the final menu in September!

New Feedback and Marking Policy- coming this September

From September, we will be introducing a new Feedback and Marking Policy across the school. This updated approach is designed to ensure that feedback is meaningful, manageable, and supports every child in moving their learning forward.
An overview of the new policy is available for parents to read on our school website. You can find it here along with our other school wide policies.

We encourage all parents and carers to take a look- thank you for your continued support.

Can you imagine running away from a circus and joining a library? I guess you’ll have to read it to find out.

Year 4

A Mr Sherwin favourite! Explore the journey of a rabbit, who finally learns what it is like to be truly loved.

Year 5

Packed with humour and quirkiness, this book looks at sibling relationships.

Year 6

An emotional and gripping adventure, which sees a girl going on an adventure that she will never forget.
